The Royal Sands Koh Rong

Spanning a private 400 metres beach on the tropical island of Koh Rong, Cambodia’s second largest island, there is a scattering of secluded villas facing the ocean at The Royal Sands resort that makes it a welcome addition to the Koh Rong waterfront. Although not completely isolated, the well-thought-out position of each villa creates an angle of privacy. The resort has 67 villas with a fairly minimalist in style, and some villas offer outdoor ‘salas’, whilst others boast beachfront views and private pools. The design incorporates high-quality and sustainable materials including teak, bamboo and limestone, with open-air venues for having great views of the island’s mountains and legendary sunsets. 

A great selection of facilities from the infinity edge pool to the outdoor yoga, there is also a fitness centre and open-air spa whilst enjoying a choice of seasonal fresh foods with wine and champagne pairings at Ocean Restaurant in a relaxed setting.

These teem with an abundance of colourful fish and coral, making for truly incredible snorkelling and scuba diving. The island’s interior is dominated by a dense jungle where you will be able to trek in search of exotic wildlife and countless birds. Kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and mountain biking also make the list of activities on offering.

LOCATION

  • The Royal Sands Koh Rong is located an hour by boat west of Sihanoukville in the Gulf of Thailand. A few airlines operate flights into Sihanoukville, from Siem Reap and other regional centres.
  • The Royal Sands Koh Rong can arrange round-trip transfers for guests from the airport to the port and then onto the island itself, in its very own ferry.
