Morning’s guided tour of Bangkok city: After breakfast, you will be taken on a tour of the city. You will meet your guide at the hotel lobby and transfer to visit the Royal Grand Palace, which is the most important shrine in the Kingdom. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, known as Wat Phra Kaew, with its solid jade Buddha Image, is one of the country’s most adored relics and a must-see for any visitor. Visit the Throne Hall, State Reception Hall, and the Coronation Hall. Then move on to Wat Po, which was built by King Rama I nearly 200 years ago and houses the gigantic Reclining Buddha and is the spiritual home of traditional therapeutic Thai Massage.
Then take part in the private Thai Buddhist Blessing. The Monk is chanting, beautiful Buddhist chants, echoing throughout the temple. After that, you join hands in pouring the holy water from a small bottle into a bronze bowl that you give to the head Monk and will receive the holy water sprinkled lightly all over your body. You will then give the Monk simple offerings to be blessed for you and all your family and friends. Experience one hour Thai massage. Wat Po is also the spiritual home of authentic therapeutic Thai massage. The architecture is stunning so be sure to bring plenty of film for your camera!
Then walk a few steps to local pier for boarding an engine-powered long-tail boat to make your way along the fascinating Chao Phraya River, also referred to as the “River of Kings.” Enjoy an up-close look at the homes, temples, and daily activities along the river. Continue past the Temple of Dawn, locally known as Wat Arun, built in the late 1700’s and one of Bangkok’s best-known landmarks. Lunch is on your own.
Afternoon at leisure: This afternoon, you are free to relax or enjoy the hotel’s facilities or to make the most of Bangkok’s excellent shopping opportunities.
Evening street food of the city: You will be escorted by your guide to enjoy the evening street culinary, one way by van and return by tuk-tuk. Wherever you go in the city, these food stalls are plentiful and every so often. Some street vendors operate in groups, often in local markets. Just wandering around the streets can easily grab your dinner. Afterward, you will be transferred by Tuk Tuk back to your hotel to enjoy a sleep master.
